BACHELOR OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (BIT) DEGREE PROGRAMME (EXTERNAL)

APPLICATION FOR THE BACHELOR OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (BIT) DEGREE PROGRAMME (EXTERNAL) – 22ND INTAKE – 2022

  1. Applications are called in from the eligible students for the Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) Degree Programme (External) based on the entry requirements given in Section 2. Candidates are informed that it is compulsory to apply for the BIT 22nd intake only online from the link given at the bottom of the page.
  2. Entry requirementsThe following admission requirements will be effective from the Academic Year 2021.
    No person may be registered as a candidate for the Examinations leading to the Degree unless he/she satisfies (A) and (B) below:(A) he/she(i) Has obtained three passes in the GCE Advanced Level examination in one sitting after the year 2000 or four passes in the GCE Advanced Level examination in one sitting before the year 2000OR(ii) has obtained any other educational qualification deemed equivalent to the qualification referred to in paragraphs (i) above by the Senate on the recommendation of the Academic Syndicate of the UCSC and has passed a Selection Test* conducted by the UCSC;OR(iii) Has passed all the theoretical components of the Foundation in Information Technology (FIT) Programme conducted by the UCSC;AND(B) he/she(i) Has obtained at least six passes in G.C.E. Ordinary Level with three Credits including for Mathematics and English;OR(ii) Has obtained any other educational qualification deemed equivalent to the qualification referred to in paragraph (B) (i) above by the Senate on the recommendation of the Academic Syndicate of the UCSC.

Selection Test is considered as the Foundation in Information Technology (FIT) Programme conducted by the UCSC** Currently accepted equivalent qualifications for GCE O/L are Mulika Piriven Final Examination, Edexcel (Pearson Edexcel) IGCSE, Cambridge (Cambridge Assessment International Education) IGCSE and O/L

  2. Instructions to submit the application
    1. The online Application Form should be filled only in English using BLOCK CAPITAL LETTERS
    2. Full Name must be given as it appears on the Birth Certificate. (If the name in the Birth Certificate is different from the name which is in use, necessary amendments should be made in the Birth Certificate before getting the registration)
    3. Please provide your correct permanent address, contact number, and email address to enable the External Degrees Centre (EDC) of the UCSC to communicate with you in future activities when fill the online application form. Any changes of those contact should be duly notified in writing to the Assistant Registrar/EDC of the UCSC.
    4. You should indicate your educational qualifications and examination results accurately and clearly.

    5. You should complete all the entry requirements on or before the application closing date.
  3. Payments procedure.
    1. Application Fee of Rs. 1,800.00 (for Sri Lankans), Rs. 5,000.00 (for students from SAARC countries) and Rs 10,000.00 (students from non-SAARC countries) must be made using either the bank payment or online payment method. (For fees and payments for the course please refer to the below link. 
    1. Applicants can choose either offline bank payment metrology or online payment metrology.

        • Select the bank payment method in the payment section of the application.
        • Download the voucher, which has four copies.
        • Pay the application fee to the EDC account number printed on the voucher at any Peoples’ Bank branch.
        • Make sure the electronic endorsement is clearly visible in the payment voucher for authentication purposes.
        • Upload the voucher at the relevant section of the online application.

        • Proceed for the completion of the online application.

        • Select the online payment method in the payment section of the application.
        • Proceed to the online payment gateway.

  1. If the online payment is unsuccessful and you receive the message from the respective bank that the fee has been deducted from your card, DO NOT ATTEMPT MULTIPLE PAYMENTS. Please send your name, application number, NIC, date and time of payment and a screenshot of the error message you received to the email address opi@ucsc.cmb.ac.lk.
  2. Once the payment details are updated, verify the information entered in all fields, and submit the online application.
  3. Then download the application form, print it, and place your signature and insert the date of signing at the appropriate place in the printed version of the on-line application form (Sample of downloaded application is attached at the bottom for your reference

  4. YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE SUBMITTED AND CONSIDERED FOR REGISTRATION ONLY WHEN YOU DOWNLOAD THE APPLICATION.
  5. You are requested to bring the printed version of the application once you are called for the selection interview if your application is accepted.
  6. The application closing date will be 06th July 2022. All the applications must be completed on or before the deadline
  7. Please note that APPLICATION FEE IS NONREFUNDABLE
  8. Internal Undergraduates of the state universities who have completed the eligibility criteria also can apply for this program.
