A. Research on the Impact of increasing salinity in groundwater on Human Health, in Northern Province, Sri Lanka.
The University of Jaffna will entertain applications from qualified persons for the under mentioned posts for research on the impact of increasing salinity in groundwater on Human Health in Northern Province, Sri Lanka in partnership with the University of Manchester, UK.
Post of Research Assistant (01 post)
Requirements:
- MBBS or other equal qualification from UGC-approved University / Higher Education Institution.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in community-based health-related research.
Remuneration:
A monthly salary of LKR 60,000.00 will be paid.
Post of Coordinator(01 post)
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree or other equal qualification from UGC approved University / Higher Education Institution.
- Preference will be given to those who have experience in project coordination especially in community-based health related research.
Remuneration: A monthly salary of LKR 45,000.00 will be paid.
Post of Data Collectors(02 posts)
Requirements:
- A Bachelor degree or other equal qualification from UGC approved University / Higher Education Institution.
- Minimum one year of experience in community-based health-related research.
- Ability to handle e-based data collection.
Remuneration: A monthly salary of LKR 40,000.00 will be paid.
Post of Data Collecting Assistants(02 posts)
Requirements:
- Should have passed the G.C. E. A/L examination with three passes.
- Preference will be given to those who have experience in health research-related and e-based data collection.
Remuneration: A monthly salary of LKR 30,000.00 will be paid.
B. Project for community healthcare worker- facilitated fertility care in Northern Province, Sri Lanka.
University of Jaffna will entertain applications from qualified persons for the under mentioned posts for the project on Community healthcare worker-facilitated fertility care in Northern Province, Sri Lanka, funded by International Medical Health Organization (IMHO)
Post of Project Coordinator (01 post)
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree from UGC approved University or Higher Education Institution.
- Preference will be given to those who have experience in project coordination especially in community-based health-related projects.
Remuneration: A monthly salary of LKR 40,000.00 will be paid.
Post of Community Healthcare Workers ( 05 posts)
Requirements:
- Relevant educational qualification for the post.
or
Minimum 01-year working experience in community-based health-related projects.
Remuneration: A monthly salary of LKR 30,000.00 will be paid.
General note to all the above posts
- All selected candidates will be appointed on a full-time basis for six months.
- Candidates should possess excellent language skills in Tamil.
- Should be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
- Ability to work in the field of any part of Northern Province, Sri Lanka.
- Age should be not less than 18 years and not more than 35 years.
- All selected candidates will become a contributor to the Employee Provident Fund (EPF) and the Employee Trust Fund (ETF), the employee should contribute 8% of the monthly salary to the EPF and the employer will contribute 12% & 3% of the monthly salary to EPF & ETF respectively.

Applicants are requested to send their applications with copies of the educational certificates and any other relevant certificates in proof of qualifications and experience via registered post to reach Deputy Registrar/ Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna, Adiyapatham Road, Kokuvil, Jaffna. Applicants are requested to send the scanned copies of all the documents to the email address: [email protected] on or before Monday , 08th of May 2023.
Applicants from the University System/ Government Departments/ Corporations and Statutory Boards should channel their applications through the Heads of respective Institutions, but may send an advance copy in the first instance. However, no such applicant will be considered for interview, if the application channeled through the Head of the Department is not received.
The candidates who apply for more than one post should submit a separate application for each of the posts. Illegible & incomplete applications and applications received after the closing date will be rejected without intimation. The candidates who apply for more than one post should submit separate applications along with separate Bank slips. The post applied for should be marked on the top left-hand corner of the envelope.
