The gazette requiring all government officials to retire when they reach the age of 60 has been published.
The order that will take effect on January 1, 2023, was published yesterday, December 5, with Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena‘s signature.
According to the gazette, state employees may retire from Government service at the age of 55, and unless the proper authority decides to retain him or her in service, all Government employees, except those whose age of compulsory retirement has been specified by the Constitution or by any other law, must retire at the age of 60.
