Bachelor of Science (BSc) External Degree
This external degree programme provides an overall understanding of the basic and in-depth knowledge of Biology/Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and related technologies. The practical component correlates theory with practice and provides hands-on experiences on practical/laboratory skills and techniques. Optional courses such as Principles of Management, Information Technology, Communication Skills, Fundamentals of Leadership, Fundamentals of Economics, Project Management, Quality Assurance, Teacher Professionalism, Education Psychology and Green Technology promote a graduate beyond the horizon of science and produce highly employable graduates.
Eligibility Criteria
- At least ‘S’ grades for all approved subjects (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Combined Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics or Higher Mathematics) at G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L)/ Edexcel (UK)/ Cambridge (UK) examination in one sitting AND
- A simple pass for G.C.E Ordinary Level (O/L) English.
Lateral entry: Candidates who have successfully completed,
- NVQ* Level 05
- Diploma in National College of Education (Vidyapeeta) OR
- Those who have partially completed BSc Science degrees
- Closing Date December 29th, 2023
with relevant subjects can be considered for an exemption of year one or certain course units on approval of board of study on external degrees in science and Senate.

Medium of Instruction
The medium of teaching, practical classes and assessments/examinations are in English.
Mode of Learning
Lectures and practical classes will be conducted by a well-qualified experienced panel of academics. Lectures will be 100% online mode (with on-campus classroom activities according to the preference of the lecturer) during weekends. Practical classes will be conducted during pre-informed two/three weeks of the semester, on-campus.
